“Senate Democrats will try for the third consecutive day to bring a financial overhaul to the floor for debate, after Republicans twice blocked such attempts.

Like clockwork, Republicans are expected to block the bill once more.

Itโ€™s probably not the way most of us would play charades, but The Timesโ€™s Edward Wyatt and David Herszenhorn write that both parties believe their actions will prove a fault in the other. While Democrats seek to use the procedural votes to align Republicans with Wall Street and the effort to block an overhaul, Republicans have put forth a narrower alternative bill that they say will protect consumers from the โ€œunintended consequencesโ€ of the Democratsโ€™ Wall Street bill.” Read more.
