Three prominent economists will present free lectures at the American Institute for Economic Research’s scenic campus, speaking on the economics of climate change, ObamaCare and health-care reform, and the history that led up to Brexit. They will be part of AIER’s second annual Distinguished Speaker Series.

Graciela Chichilnisky, an economics professor at Columbia University, and co-founder of the carbon-capture-and-use company Global Thermostat, will present a lecture, “Surviving Extinction,” on Monday, July 25. She will discuss how the private sector can address climate change.

David C. Colander, professor of economics at Middlebury College, will speak on “Two Years into ObamaCare – Some Thoughts on Health Care Reform.” Prof. Colander has been the Christian A. Johnson Distinguished Professor of Economics at Middlebury since 1982. He has written, co-authored or edited over 30 books and 90 articles. His lecture will take place on Monday, August 1.

Dr. Paul A. London, chief economist at the Stern Group, Inc., in Washington, will speak on “Brexit in its Post World War II Context” on Monday, August 15. Dr. London served in the U.S. Department of Commerce in the 1990’s as deputy undersecretary for economics and statistics. He was a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute from 2000-2003.

“AIER’s Distinguished Speaker Series provides an opportunity for our audiences to hear these experts discuss relevant issues that have an impact on all of us,” said AIER President Stephen J. Adams.
