Our seventieth Summer Student Fellowship Program came to a close on August 12, and we are pleased with all our fellows accomplished. This spring, we received 63 applications, and selected a group of 10 students from various colleges and universities around the country.

AIERโs Teach-the-Teachers Initiative went on the road this summer, and Iโd like to report the results. Our Economics-Across-the-Curriculum approach encourages teachers to incorporate economic concepts as well as engaging teaching strategies into their classes on a variety of subjects.

This academic year, AIER has hosted two interns from Miss Hallโs School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts: Elizabeth (Lizzy) Barnes and Lisa Wang.

It was April 13 at 8 a.m. and 13 students gathered in Monument Mountain Regional High Schoolโs Algebra II class. They were about to receive a lesson in mathematics in a most unconventional way. AIERโs academic year internship provides an opportunity for local high school and college students to work like economists. Most of our interns spend four to six hours with us each week during their semester. We assign these students to work with a research fellow who provides direction.
