Reflections on AIER’s 2016 Summer Fellowship
Our seventieth Summer Student Fellowship Program came to a close on August 12, and we are pleased with all our fellows accomplished. This spring, we received 63 applications, and selected a group of 10 students from various colleges and universities around the country.

Our Summer Economics Education Road Trip
AIER’s Teach-the-Teachers Initiative went on the road this summer, and I’d like to report the results. Our Economics-Across-the-Curriculum approach encourages teachers to incorporate economic concepts as well as engaging teaching strategies into their classes on a variety of subjects.

AIER’s Teach-the-Teachers Initiative encourages teachers to integrate economic concepts into their classroom lessons. AIER’s Teach-the-Teachers Initiative continues its way around the country. We encourage teachers to incorporate economics into their classroom teaching plans, using creative methods that will inspire students to engage with the lesson.

The Value of an AIER Academic Year Internship
AIER’s 2015-2016 academic year internship program benefitted 13 students . Today, I would like to highlight three of them.

Helping Students Learn, and Teach, Financial Literacy
This academic year, AIER has hosted two interns from Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts: Elizabeth (Lizzy) Barnes and Lisa Wang.

AIER Internship Helps Students Broaden Their Horizons
AIER’s academic year internship provides an opportunity for local high school and college students to work like economists. Most of our interns spend four to six hours with us each week during their semester. We assign these students to work with a research fellow who provides direction.
